Conclusion
Now we come to the conclusion. With the Magnus Pro XL, Secretlab has further developed its already stylish steel desk in a sensible way, demonstrating that gaming furniture can be grown-up and functional without necessarily falling for the RGB funfair or design overkill. The electric height adjustment works quietly, precisely and reliably, and the integrated cable management including magnetic accessory system is one of the most elegant solutions on the market. The whole construction looks like it has been cast from a single mold, cleanly finished, well thought out down to the last detail and with a clear focus on order and ergonomics.
However, the desk is not entirely without criticism: the tabletop is somewhat thinner in direct comparison to the Corsair Platform:6 and therefore does not convey quite the same solid quality. The stability at maximum height also lags slightly behind its Corsair counterpart. Although the Magnus Pro is not really “wobbly”, it is noticeably more delicate. The Secretlabs construction simply looks slimmer and more design-oriented overall, but offers fewer expansion options than the modular rail of the Corsair table, to which practically everything that is not three on the floor can be screwed. Although the basic version of the Magnus Pro is considerably cheaper than the Platform:6, with similar features, the final price is quite comparable – so the comparison of the two desks is more than justified.
The bottom line is that the Magnus Pro XL is an excellently manufactured, technically cleanly implemented and visually extremely appealing desk for anyone who values a tidy setup. Those who prefer maximum modularity, solid construction and absolute stability will be better off with the Corsair Platform 6. If, on the other hand, you are looking for style, clever magnetic solutions and an uncompromisingly clean look, the Magnus Pro XL is an almost magnetically attractive overall package – in the truest sense of the word. The only shock comes with the price tag, because the XL is anything but cheap, even if the normal Pro is slightly cheaper. It’s still not cheap, but it doesn’t look it either. However, if you still want or need to invest something at the end of the year, because otherwise the tax rate will scream: you can do it. But please pay attention to the depreciation period…
The desk and the accessory package were provided on loan by Secretlab for this test. The only condition was compliance with the blocking period; there was no influence or remuneration.
