Conclusion
Now we come to the conclusion. Anyone who has carefully studied the practical test on the previous page will have already read that the TANK XXL was very well received by the testers overall – but also appeals to a specific target group. The TANK XXL is a veteran in the DXRacer portfolio and has been continuously developed over the years, making it a well-developed and sophisticated piece of seating furniture. The construction and material thicknesses leave no doubt that the chair would not be able to withstand the specified maximum load in the long term. All testers found the new fabric cover in particular to be extremely pleasant and comfortable because it feels softer and warmer than the frequently used PU imitation leather.
Similar to the recently tested Corsair TC500 Luxe, the TANK XXL is also clearly optimized for “comfort” and is therefore primarily intended to appeal to gamers. Big gamers, to be precise. Because even if a lot of space is often an advantage and creates a certain “sofa feeling”, it can quickly become frustrating for “normal” or “slim” people if the very tight rocking mechanism can hardly be operated or the armrests can hardly be reached even on the smallest settings. This should definitely be borne in mind when choosing the right seat.
One point of criticism, which may be a trifle for many readers, but for me is an absolute exclusion criterion, is the rocking mechanism built into the TANK XXL. This cannot be locked in various positions, but only locked and released, which for me significantly restricts the ergonomics of the chair. For chairs without a synchronized mechanism, I prefer to adjust the front part of the seat “higher” than the rear part, which is only possible to a limited extent with the TANK due to the lack of a locking mechanism. At a price (RRP) of € 589, this function can certainly be expected, even if the TANK XXL is certainly a little more expensive than more delicate competitor products due to the increased amount of material used in its manufacture.
Overall, the DXRacer TANK XXL can compete with established competitor models from Maxnomic, Noble Chairs, SecretLab and others and doesn’t have to hide. Of course, it is up to the potential buyer to decide for themselves whether the great look and the really successful fabric cover are worth the asking price in the end
