HDR performance
What can the XG27AQDMG definitely display – thanks to the OLED display? That’s right, it can do HDR and without latency. Fortunately, it doesn’t matter whether you have an AMD or an NVIDIA GPU. Every single pixel is controlled, resulting in the enormous contrast that no current LCD monitor can display. Not even if the monitor has a mini-LED backlight with FALD. You can see for yourself where the XG27AQDMG has its strengths and weaknesses in the following slides.

Gaming HDR High
Interim Conclusion HDR
Basically, it doesn’t matter which mode you use in the OSD, because they all behave quite similarly in terms of EOTF tracking. It basically depends on your own taste as to whether you prefer high or low brightness. Low mode limits the maximum brightness to approx. 750 nits (from 1 percent to 10 percent APL). If you prefer the high mode, you can experience up to 1200 nits peak brightness. However, this is of course limited to small APLs.
EOTF tracking is not perfect in any HDR mode and is also influenced by the respective APL. This in turn has an effect on the color accuracy (ColorChecker/Saturation). From my point of view, what ASUS delivers here is really useful. After all, HDR doesn’t primarily depend on color accuracy, but on contrast and general brightness – and that’s exactly what the XG27AQDMG can deliver. What you need to know here is that the WOLED panel is at a disadvantage in terms of color brightness and color volume compared to a QD OLED panel. But in my opinion, this is also basically complaining on a high level.
