Introduction and unboxing
The MSI Strike Pro Wireless is the first wireless mechanical keyboard from MSI and is aimed at gamers who value quiet operation, high build quality and versatility. The model combines modern switch technology with extensive noise reduction and offers features that are designed to impress in both gaming and everyday use. The choice of switches takes center stage. MSI relies on Kailh Midnight Pro Silent Switches, which offer tactile, clearly perceptible feedback while remaining below 35 decibels. This makes the Strike Pro Wireless one of the quieter mechanical gaming keyboards. The switches are designed for around 70 million keystrokes and can be replaced if necessary thanks to the hot-swap mechanism. This allows users to use other 5-pin switches without soldering and adapt the keyboard to their personal preferences. The connection options are diverse. In addition to the classic USB-C cable mode, a 2.4 GHz mode with MSI SwiftSpeed technology and Bluetooth are also available. In Bluetooth mode, up to three devices can be paired at the same time, making it possible to switch quickly between notebook, desktop PC or even mobile devices. This flexibility makes the keyboard interesting not only for gaming, but also for productive everyday use.
Another point is the battery life. The integrated 4200 mAh battery is said to offer up to 1500 hours of runtime. In practice, the usage time depends on the active RGB lighting and the connection modes, but the keyboard is positioned in a very high range here. This makes it suitable for long gaming sessions or for users who prefer wireless devices with a low charging frequency. In terms of comfort, MSI relies on a magnetically attached palm rest made of memory foam, which is designed to reduce strain during long periods of use. This is complemented by well thought-out features. There are dedicated macro keys that can be individually assigned, separate media keys and a scroll wheel for volume control. These elements make operation easier and give the keyboard a professional character. The design also contributes to noise reduction. MSI has installed several layers for sound insulation, including special muffler pads and a gasket mount design that reduces vibrations thanks to the flexible mounting of the circuit board. The aim is a muffled, even sound that clearly stands out from classic loud mechanical keyboards. This also makes the Strike Pro Wireless suitable for environments where typing noise could be disruptive.
The Strike Pro Wireless is also visually designed for gaming. Each key can be individually illuminated, controlled via the MSI Mystic Light software. Quick customization is also possible directly on the keyboard via an RGB button. This allows effects, colors or brightness to be changed without having to open additional software. In summary, the MSI Strike Pro Wireless is a quiet, versatile and technically advanced gaming keyboard. It combines high-quality silent switches with a sophisticated damping system, offers flexible connection options and impresses with a long battery life. Complemented by comfort features such as a palm rest, macro keys and RGB lighting, it is suitable for both ambitious gamers and users who value quiet and ergonomic typing.
The front of the packaging shows the MSI Strike Pro Wireless in full size with bright RGB lighting. The MSI logo is at the top left, with an RGB symbol and a reference to the silent switches on the right. The product name is at the bottom in glossy lettering, the design is kept simple and bright.
On the back, the keyboard is shown at an angle, supplemented by brief descriptions of the silent switches, hot-swap, lighting, macro keys and palm rest. Next to this is the technical data on connections, battery, dimensions and weight, with the usual certifications and manufacturer information at the bottom.
Wrapped in foil, it lies securely in its packaging. This could have been made a little nicer, but it’s not too bad.
A plastic palm rest, which is also very light, is included with the accessories. A neat sleeved cable, a dongle and switch/keycap puller. A short readme. What is special here and what I didn’t expect is the following: Because the connection is, for whatever reason, on the outside left, a nice angle adapter for USB-C has been added here, which is even magnetic. An interesting idea and I think it’s absolutely fine. I will include a small picture of this later. This way, the plug can be disconnected and simply reconnected. Incidentally, the USB C plug sits very firmly in place.
At first glance, the MSI Strike Pro Wireless looks very classic. The layout is clear, the keys have an angular design and are reminiscent of the robust mechanical keyboards of the past. At the same time, the design looks more modern and elegant, with clear lines and a tidy layout. The additional control elements such as the large volume wheel, the media keys and the three programmable macro keys are particularly striking. This gives the keyboard a professional character without making it look overloaded.
The back is kept simple, bears the MSI logo and offers stable fold-out feet. Here too, the design is reminiscent of older boards, but the clear shapes and high-quality workmanship make it look much more contemporary. In short, the keyboard combines the nostalgic charm of classic mechanical keyboards with a modern, functional design. However, I personally would have preferred an aluminum body.
The dongle is well placed and the mode switch is also positioned so that it is not disruptive and is easy to reach.
Here is the already mentioned and absolutely ingenious USB-C adapter. At first I really thought: “What’s that connector doing there on the side?” And I also plugged the USB-C cable directly into it first. Sure, that worked too, but it looked a bit strange and with the adapter it looks classy and cool and it even has a small status light. I think it’s extremely successful and somehow has something.
