Summary and overview of all games in WQHD with Super Sampling, Raytracing and Frame Generation
The GeForce RTX 5070 has hardly been able to gain an advantage over the RTX 4070 Super in the three classic raster graphics benchmarks, as its raw performance is roughly at the same level. Although the chip has a more efficient architecture, the number of CUDA cores and the memory connection limit the possible increase in performance. The only noticeable advantage now comes from the use of DLSS, in particular DLSS 4, which is exclusively available on the new Blackwell architecture. The benchmarks therefore now show a significant performance gain when DLSS is activated.
A crucial point is that not all games benefit equally from DLSS. Some modern titles support DLSS 4 and show impressive gains, while older or poorly optimized titles offer hardly any added value. This results in a slightly distorted picture in average benchmarks: While individual DLSS-optimized games show high FPS gains, performance in other areas remains almost identical to the previous generation. Ultimately, the actual advantage of the RTX 5070 therefore depends heavily on software support rather than being based on fundamentally higher hardware performance. This is exactly why I have Alan Wake and Cyberpunk 2077 with further tests later on.
Normalizing FPS values across different games makes it possible to objectively compare hardware performance, as games place different demands on the CPU and GPU. As a result, the GeForce RTX 5070 is now almost 10 percent ahead of the RTX 4070 Super and you can also see this clearly in the individual metrics below. Where it performs really well and where it doesn’t.
The P1 Low is a measured value that is used in benchmarks to evaluate the frame rate (FPS) and describes the lowest value that the top 99% of the measured FPS do not fall below. In this area, the GeForce RTX 5070 outperforms the RTX 4070 Super by more than 10%, which indicates significantly better stability and lower frame drops.
In QHD with activated technologies such as DLSS 3 or FSR, the power consumption is primarily determined by the GPU load, especially in combination with ray tracing. Intelligent upscaling and frame generation reduce the actual calculated pixels, which significantly reduces the GPU load and energy consumption compared to the native render resolution.
The efficiency is then the inverse calculation, so to speak, where the amount of watts used (average over the respective game) and the average FPS of the game in question are set in relation to each other:
