Bigger is always possible: Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold presented

The report describes Samsung’s first triple-folding smartphone as a device with a complex mechanical design that is intended to achieve high structural stability despite its varying weight across the surface. The redesigned Armor FlexHinge mechanism consists of two hinges of different sizes with a dual-rail structure, made of titanium and protected against abrasion by a metal layer. The frame uses a high-strength aluminum alloy, complemented by a ceramic glass fiber reinforced polymer back panel to reduce thickness and increase breakage resistance. Samsung refers to extensive quality testing of each individual unit.

The fully unfolded 10-inch LTPO AMOLED panel achieves a resolution of 2,160 × 1,584 pixels and 1,600 nits peak brightness with a variable refresh rate of 1 to 120 hertz. The front screen measures 6.5 inches, has a resolution of 2,520 × 1,080 pixels, offers up to 2,600 nits and also has an LTPO adaptive refresh rate. The maximum thickness is 3.9 millimetres and the weight is 309 grams. The device is protected against dust and water in accordance with IP48, the cover is made of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2.

Samsung does not integrate the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, manufactured in the TSMC N3E process. The internal memory is either 512 GB or 1 TB, each coupled with 16 GB LPDDR5X. Expansion via microSD is not planned. The camera equipment includes a 200 megapixel main module with f/1.7, a 12 megapixel ultra-wide-angle module with 120 degrees and a 10 megapixel telephoto lens with 3x lossless magnification and 30x digital magnification. Two 10-megapixel sensors are available for front shots, each with f/2.2, one in the cover display and the other in the main display with a 100-degree angle of view.

Power is supplied by a 5,600 mAh battery with support for 45 watt wired charging and 15 watt wireless charging. The capacity is therefore higher than that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and represents the largest battery in a Samsung folding device to date. The smartphone comes exclusively in the color Crafted Black. According to earlier information, the estimated price is 2,447 US dollars, which puts the device just above the rumored price of the iPhone Fold. The market launch will take place on December 12 in Korea, followed by China, Taiwan, Singapore and the UAE. Availability in the USA is set for the first quarter of 2026.

The technical data is in the upper range, but the use of the older Snapdragon 8 Elite indicates cost optimization.
