Sound recording, latencies and conclusion
Let’s have a listen.
// Shot with an iPhone 15 PRO Max, to the left of the keyboard at a distance of approximately 12 cm. Room size: 14.5 sq m. 2.5 cm thick wooden tabletop. A 4 mm thick desk pad was used. //
I have a slight reverb in my room and I don’t have a really good Deskmat yet! It actually sounds even better than you can hear on the recording. It sounds “creamy” and “thocky”. There are still 2 foams installed under the PCB. If you take them out, it sounds a bit brighter and clearer. I like both variants. The board sounds really good. And yet anyone can test and tinker with it at a later date, try other switches and caps or play with the foams. It’s up to you. Thanks to the great locking mechanism, there are many ways to make quick modifications.
NVIDIA – LDAT latency measurement
The board is really fast and therefore also a good choice for gamers. An avg-ms of 8.0 is absolutely top. I measured this via cable.
The bottom line
With the Evo 80, Qwertykeys delivers a board that makes a clear statement as soon as it is unpacked. The packaging has a high-quality design, the presentation is well thought-out and it is immediately clear that this is no ordinary keyboard. Even the housing is impressive with its solid aluminum and stainless steel construction, which gives the board a weight of almost two kilograms. This weight not only provides stability on the table, but also a feeling of value that is often lacking in cheaper keyboards.
Technically, the Evo 80 is extremely versatile. With tri-mode connectivity, USB-C, 2.4 GHz wireless and Bluetooth, it covers all modern applications. The VIA compatibility makes it possible to freely customize the layout, store macros and set up individual setups without much effort. The Evo 80 is therefore not only aimed at enthusiasts, but also at users who want maximum flexibility. The sophisticated internal design is particularly noteworthy: the Butterfly Leaf Spring Mount ensures a controlled typing feel and eliminates annoying hollow noises, while the ball-catch mechanism with magnetic connectors allows the housing to be opened without tools. This makes maintenance and modifications extremely easy.

Another plus point are the Dye-Sub PBT keycaps in the Cherry profile. They are not only excellently made, but also contribute to a clear, defined sound. Their design is coherent and visually appealing, so that the keyboard also makes an excellent visual impression. In combination with the selectable switch plate combinations, Oat Switches with PP plate for a creamy, full sound or Azure Switches with FR4 plate for a crisp, clacky sound profile, every user gets exactly the sound character they prefer.
There is also a wide selection of color variants: Ten different finishes, from subtle Nimbus to bold Tyrian and playful baby pink. There really is a suitable version for every taste, which also makes the Evo 80 a real eye-catcher visually.
All in all, this board is an almost unbeatable offer for a price of 199 euros. It is not only the high material quality and excellent workmanship that are impressive, but above all the sound created by the combination of switches, keycaps and the innovative housing design. Together with the high-quality and visually very successful keycaps, this results in an overall package that is perfect for anyone who wants to enter the custom keyboard segment.
For me, the Qwertykeys Evo 80 is the best board I have ever had in my hands at such a price: an all-round well thought-out product that combines quality, sound, design and customizability at a high level. Do you remember my article on the Asus Extreme board? If not, please search for it and take a look. There I clearly mentioned the much too high price and said that you can also get higher quality boards for much less. And this is such a case. A complete board of this quality for 199 EURO. Thank you, Qwertykeys. This should be rewarded with a purchase. Recommended purchase “YES INDEED”!
The board delivers a pleasantly “thocky” sound that also has a slightly creamy touch. And it achieves precisely this mixture superbly.
