Samsung Odyssey G7 G75F WUHD & UHD – Secret world premiere of the original format at Gamescom

Samsung has secretly unveiled two new monitors to the public at Gamescom 2025 – which is taking place in Cologne until Sunday. The new model operates under the model name G7 G75F and is being launched both as a 4k version with 37 inches and 165Hz, as well as in the original WUHD resolution (5120×2160) in 40 inches with 180Hz, making the WUHD resolution version in particular a real exotic. So far, only Dell has offered a comparable display size with its UltraSharp U4021QW. Both monitors are classic VA panels that are specified with HDR 600 according to VESA and, according to the manufacturer, have a response time of 1 ms (GtG). Both also share the curvature radius of 1000R. In terms of ergonomic alignment, the stand allows a height adjustment of 120 mm as well as tilting and horizontal swiveling. However, pivot is not supported.

Odyssey G7 G75F 4k with 165Hz in 37 inches

The more conventional UHD version of the panel in 16:9 format is the model with the type designation S37FG756EU. In addition to the features already mentioned, the monitor offers a contrast of 3000:1 and a brightness of 350cd/m² and has a screen diagonal of 94 cm. On the connection side, Samsung offers a Displayport 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 inputs as well as two USB ports and an audio output. In addition to the typical class standards such as PiP and automatic source input detection, the monitor comes with FreeSync Premium Pro support.

Samsung has dispensed with official G-Sync support here. You will also look in vain for speakers here, although these are rarely required by the end customer in the high-price segment anyway. According to Samsung, the panel is flicker-free and is supplied with a DP cable and an HDMI cable and measures 816 x 674.4 x 303.8 mm (WxHxD) including the stand. The weight is 11.2 kg.

Odyssey G7 G75F WUHD with 180Hz in 40 inches

The model with WUHD resolution is much more exciting. The interesting format offers an original mix of the ultra-wide format and the classic 16:9, resulting in 21:9. With the resulting resolution of 5120×2160, you should already have a powerful graphics card – if you are planning to use it for gaming. The exact designation of the monitor is S40FG756EU. The WUHD version also offers a contrast of 3000:1 and a brightness of 350cd/m². The connections are also identical with Displayport 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 ports, USB and audio output. In addition to PiP, Flicker Free and FreeSync Premium Pro, the WUHD version also comes with PbP and can therefore display two separate input signals from different sources simultaneously. With a weight of 11.3 kg and dimensions of 928.6 x 599 x 303.8 mm including stand, the 40-inch version weighs only slightly more than its sister model. We had the opportunity to try out the monitor at Gamescom.

Although our first impression was unfortunately quite limited in the trade fair environment, the unusual format was immediately convincing. With its genes from two worlds, it offers an exciting symbiosis that is immediately appealing. The format is still suitable for office use with its dimensions, but at the same time offers the advantages of the widescreen format and conceals its biggest shortcoming with the additional height. The monitor impressed at the trade fair with its good luminosity and crisp colors. We were unable to find out more details about the lighting technology and the number of zones on site. A test will ultimately have to show whether the inner values are right.

Price and availability

Samsung has not yet been able to give us an exact date for when the two panels will be available in stores. They are talking about the fourth quarter of 25 for Germany. An official price recommendation is also not yet available for the European market. For the US market, we were told 900 US dollars for the 37-inch model in UHD resolution and 1,200 US dollars for the 40-inch model with the interesting WUHD resolution. As is usually the case in the monitor market, the RRP is likely to adapt quickly to market conditions, which could make the WUHD version in particular attractive in terms of price.

The monitors not only offer a good overall package for gamers, but with the original format also an attractive new option in the productive sector and therefore a good all-rounder.
