With the XXL gaming chair from the established TANK series, DXRacer explicitly addresses “larger” gamers and goes “all-in” in terms of stability. Read on to find out whether the huge fabric-covered chair can do more than just be comfortable.
I had actually planned to present our readers with a test report on the announced high-end model from DXRacer here. With electrical features such as RGB lighting, seat ventilation and the like, they wanted to take the gaming chair to the next level. Unfortunately, they hadn’t reckoned with Donald Trump, whose tarriff bingo has turned the global economy upside down. As a result, production of the new flagship model had to be postponed several times and as of today (mid-September 2025), there is still no word on when a release can be expected. In order to keep the anticipation for the new model high and to get an idea of the DXRacer brand in advance, we agreed to present another model first: The TANK XXL.
The TANK series was introduced more than 10 years ago and has been subtly improved with each “refresh”. With a load capacity of 180 kg and a seat width of 63 cm, it is designed to offer a comfortable and durable seat, especially for larger and heavier gamers. Before we get lost in the technical details, let’s first unpack the lump.
Unboxing
As is usual for seating furniture, the TANK also arrives at the customer as a “kit” in a monstrous cardboard box.
With a gross weight of 39 kg, it really makes the delivery person sweat.
When we open it, we are greeted by a heavy black printed “cover sheet”.
On the back, we find the exemplary assembly instructions.
Underneath, all the individual parts await final assembly.
All components are neatly packed and well protected in the box.
The backrest is a real monster!
The gray fabric cover is very pleasant to the touch and gives the chair an elegant look.
The seat comes with pre-assembled armrests and is definitely the widest I’ve tested so far.
On the underside, we get a small insight into the construction of the TANK – the material thicknesses and screw diameters leave no doubt that this is an XXL chair.
No other chair I have tested has ever had screws like these:
At almost 1.90m, I don’t exactly have small hands..
I’ll go into more detail about the sturdy armrests later. However, you can already see from the picture that they are set to the “widest” position, but are already touching the seat.
